Hot on the heels of our first Pop-Up (which was a raging success), we’re now holding another one – on the evening of Friday 31 March, from 6.30 – 11.00 pm at local venue The Dacre Rooms on Kimpton’s High St.

When the committee reflected on our last Pop-Up, we reckoned the most pleasing outcome was the overwhelming local support and interest we received. So many have been keen to register their support – now that they know what a viable campaign we have.

We were also delighted to be supported by the excellent local brewer  Farr Brew, who provided all of our ales for the evening and who are just the sort of local business we would like to champion when we get up and running.

This support has added enormous resolve and momentum to our work. So we’re very excited to be welcoming visitors to our second Pop-Up. When you think about it, what better way to connect with our supporters than in a genial pub atmosphere with quality wines, snacks and traditional local ales?

Our March 31 popup is another chance for people to come together in a convivial atmosphere and get up to speed on all that we’ve been doing.

The pub is actually registered as an ‘Asset of Community Value’, a protected status that was unsuccessfully challenged by the previous owner in 2015 and which was renewed in 2020.

The White Horse was sold by McMullen’s brewery in 2014, and since then has had two change-of-use planning applications for residential use rejected. The most recent of these, in 2021, was soundly rejected without going to planning committee. We’d be really happy to answer any questions about the status of the pub and campaign at the pop-up pub event – so do come along and ask questions, or give us your thoughts or ideas.

Visitors to the March Pop-Up pub event are also invited to join our supporters database to receive periodic updates from the campaign. You can subscribe via this form or by emailing campaign@saveourwhitehorse.co.uk.
